The Hamilton introduced John Mayall on Thursday evening as “the godfather of British Blues.” In his sixth decade as a professional musician, the 85-year-old Mayall still appears pretty spry, and he remained on his feet for his entire performance.
Yet a three-piece is the only format that John Mayall hadn’t tried to date and, at nearly 84, the British blues godfather is entitled to define his own terms of reference.
The line to get in on Tuesday started a long while before show-time, and those who turned up hoping for returns will be pleased to know the British blues legend will be heading back to Britain in the autumn.
