Beans On Toast (aka Jay MacCallister) is a British folk singer from Essex, UK, who rose to out of the UK folk scene in 2005. He is well known for his self-deprecating and honest songwriting, which openly deals with the topics of politics, drugs and love.

Difficult. When you have a 15 year back catalogue and the same number of albums, chock full of smart protest songs, many of which are crowd favourites; not to look back at your younger self and perhaps adjust the sentiments expressed decades ago.
Beans, the moniker of 42-year-old Jay McAllister, has assiduously documented and detailed British life across 15 albums and almost two decades as a musician, developing a cult following for his blend of upbeat optimism, barbed social commentary and stirring protest songs.
The gig was opened by pianist Jaz Delorean who engaged the crowd with his quirky songs and got a sing-a-long going throughout his half hour set. I’d recommend checking out Jaz’s album “Alone In Luna Park” which was realised earlier this year.
